Oswald is my favorite Disney character. But he didn’t start out at Disney. Oswald the ‘Lucky Rabbit’ was created by Walt Disney in 1927 when Disney worked for Universal Pictures. Unfortunately, Universal took over the IP of Oswald. This led Walt Disney to create another similar character, Mickey Mouse, which he used to star in his own animated movies. It was not until 2006 that the Disney company regained the trademark to Oswald from NBCUniversal. Since then, fans like me have enjoyed his unique personality. I now realize I’m not alone in my preference for the rabbit over the world-famous mouse. Lots of fans feel the same. On Facebook there were 37 comments, 113 shares and over 1,000 likes of the Oswald anniversary. On IG over 200 people left comments. But on X the post was viewed over 94,000 times, garnering 707 likes and 122 shares! Notice the familial resemblance between Oswald and Mickey.
