The long and short of the article was about this married couple, the wife being Asian, the husband being Jewish, wondering why their daughter does not respond when her name is called. As it stands, the daughter has four parts to her name. However, the Asian parts of her name started to not fit as well as she looked like her father. The main point in my annotations was that four parts is far too long for a name. What I think they should do is find a name that combines both of their cultures into one. For example, my own name. My mother is an American and my father is a Kosovar. They managed to find a happy compromise in my name, which is Bennett. It is a combination of the English name Ben and the Albanian name, Net. Well I’m not 100% sure about the Albanian part but I do know that my name is the result of combining two cultures into one. That is what I think they should do with their daughter. Mind you, Bennett Deshishku is still one doozy of a name but it pales in comparison of a four worded name.
