CIT 400: Citizenship Seminar

Course Description

Citizenship Seminar is a one-credit experience that gives students the opportunity to reflect on

their previous years of study in the light of their duties and responsibilities as members of a larger

society. It directs the student’s attention both outward with civic engagement and inward with

reflection. It is intended to assist students in making a bridge between their college years and their

post-college life with a specific focus on civic engagement. This Pass/Fail seminar is required

as part of the Core Curriculum for CAS and fulfills the Citizenship requirement.

My Description: The Citizenship Seminar is a class where we discuss civic responsibility. We volunteer as a way to show civic commitment, we watch community meetings for examples of citizenship and we discuss how citizenship shows up in the daily news. Basically we are trying to imagine ways that we can engage with our communities in the future by doing it now.
